Pages from Calvin Rae Smith's Sketchbook

These sketches are from the book Calvin had with him on his summer and fall 1873 trip to the San Juan Islands of Washington Territory, and while working in the Adirondack Mountains of New York in summer and fall of 1874. There are a few other sketches added later, such as the 1877 portrait to the immediate right.

Possibly a portrait of his sister, Louise Halliwell Smith (Draper). The earing looks identical to the one she is wearing in his 1879 portrait of her (see "Gallery" page).
